Xenophobe

Greetings Xenophobe! You have a 2 song demo cd out, which is very promising in our opinion. Let us tell about it.

Last year, we released our Xenophobe ep, which contained 2 songs, David Irving, and Xenophobe. We recorded this on the home computer, and are pretty happy with the result. We are glad you like it.

What are your musical tastes, influences?

Myself and Rob both have very similar influences. Mainly heavy metal bands, ranging from classic metal, eg. Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, WASP, Motorhead, and also a lot of thrash metal, eg, early Metallica, early Megadeth, Slayer, Kreator, Anthrax, Annihilator, Exodus, etc. Of course we like some rock music to, such as AC/DC and Guns and Roses. As for RAC, all the great bands such as Skrewdriver, Brutal Attack, No Remorse, etc.

Can you tell us about your upcoming debut album?

Yes, we are currently in the studio at the moment, recording our full length album, entitled "Lords of Chaos". It contains 9 songs, of what we can only describe as pure heavy metal. The lyrics are mainly NS based, but in a subliminal way. We have 8 original songs, plus one cover, by Finnish Oi band "Bitter Bois". We hope to have the album released in March.

How is the recent New Zealand scene in general? Is Xenophobe the very first NZ NS-band?

The NZ scene here is very small, but with loyal comrades. And yes, Xenophobe is the first NS band from NZ. There have been other skinhead bands, but only non political bands, singing about football, fighting, drinking, etc.

Are you in contact with the Oz NS-scene? Do you visit each other regularly?

Yes, we have a close bond with the Aussie skinhead scene. We have had thrash legends Deaths Head play here, also viking rockers Blood Red Eagle, and this year, we have Oisters Bail Up playing, which we are all looking forward to very much.

Do you plan recruiting new members for Xenophobe to play live gigs or you wanna be a studio project only?

To be honest, we do not have any plans to recruit new members for Xenophobe. We do not think we can find any dedicated musicians in this country. But there is a possibilty of making a second Xenophobe album, perhaps with some comrades from overseas playing on the album.

What do you think about the European scene? Do you know anything about Hungary, our scene, our bands maybe?

The European scene is great. I lived in Europe for 7 years, and attended many WP gigs all over Europe. I remember seeing Archivum playing at an ISD gig in England, and I was very impressed by there music. Very fast and heavy. I have some cds by Feher Torveny, Iron Eagle, and am soon getting some music by Arrow Cross. Very good music indeed.

What are your plans for the future?

Well myself personally, will be moving back to London with my family next year. I will continue playing the guitar, drums, and hope to record some more heavy music. Rob will be staying in NZ and will be writing more music to, but not sure if he will be recording any more NS music.

Any messages to our readers?

Thank you very much for the interest in our music. We hope you will enjoy the new cd. There have been some excellant bands come out from Hungary, and I look forward to hearing some new music soon. And to you, we appreciate the chance to be on your interview. Good luck for the future Hungarian comrades, and 88!

Paul, Xenophobe
